|DEAR DR. STANDLEY|
I would like to know if a person could take these together.
- GREEN TEA
- GRAPE SEED EXTRACT
- SIBERIAN GINSENG
- MAGNESIUM WITH CHELATED ZINC
And would it help in weight loss?
Thanks for the e-mail. Is it safe to assume the person taking these supplements is you?
Bear in mind that Green Tea has a trace of caffeine.
Zinc increases the body's need for magnesium so taking magnesium with Zinc is a Good idea. One stimulates the other. Using recommended dosages on the bottle is the optimum dosage. Check out minerals on this site.
And Siberian Ginseng is NOT a true ginseng. So if you are looking for a ginseng product, you might consider Ginseng or Panax Ginseng. Check out Ginseng or Panax Ginseng on this site.
Grape Seed Extract is phenomenal is building the immune system. Check out Grape Seed Extract on this site.
As far as combining these products in order to lose weight, there aren't any chemical properties in any of them that I believe would stimulate a weight loss. Check out the area on this site called Food for Thought" to read more about weight loss.
Before you consider taking ANY herbal products, it is VERY important to talk with your physician for any possible drug interactions. If you are on ANY heart, blood pressure or diabetic medications there are NO herbal products that should be taken with prescription drugs. There simply isn't enough research or herbal investigation concluded to put a stamp of approval on potential drug interactions.
Could you write me back and tell me if you have anything going on or in your family history such as blood pressure issues, cardiovascular disorders or diabetes that would raise questions as to whether herbs are right for you?
I AM happy to help, so go ahead and write back.
A bazillion blessings --- Dr. Standley
